Dhaulagiri I

A cold morning in the winter brought Ronnie Forslund to the top of Poon Hill in the Annapurna region of the Nepali Himalayas. As the sun began to crest over the mountains, one giant stood out among the rest, Dhaulagiri I - The 7th highest mountain in the world. Blanketed in fresh winters snow, and shining through the cold clear sky, this vertical face on Dhaulagiri is one of the biggest mountain faces in the world. This peak, this abode of snow, truly represents Himalayan scale and power, living up to its name which means Dazzling, White, and Beautiful. All captured on Canon using a 45 Mega-Pixel sensor to capture every detail in a resolution equivalent of that in 8K.

- Ronnie Forslund

"Dhaulagiri I was one of the most impressive mountains I have ever seen. The way it dominated the skyline, even at night when we were ascending up the hill for our sunrise view point. I captured this image of Dhaulagiri just as the sun shown over the icy face, creating a perfect frame of light. I found myself, camera on my tripod, just standing there, still, watching in awe. There truly is no place in the world quite like the Himalayas."
