About Ronnie Forslund

His Journey

Ronnie Forslund grew up in Las Vegas, which inspired his longing to see the mountains. Growing up in a part of the world separate from glaciers, snow-capped peaks, and high altitude, he sought to see the world in ways that not many do. His first backpacking trip, whihc was in the Annapurna region of the Nepali Himalayas, he discovered his passion for photography and storytelling and from that point forward, he has been captivated by beauty and adventure. Drawn to remote areas like the Himalaya, Pamirs, High Andes, and Equatorial Volcanoes, Ronnie captures peaks in ways that evoke wonder, power, mystery, and awe. Creating a story through his camera, not just by how the shot was taken, but why. Using lighting and black and white color to move that story into people’s hearts and reveal the unseen beauty of these remote areas, so that others can be inspired to venture out as well.

The Discovery of Beauty

Ronnie played baseball up until his sophomore year of college. A career ending injury left him humbled and it was through that experience that he discovered that there was beauty in the world that he never had the eyes to see until that moment. In a span of two years, Ronnie went from his first backpacking journey being in the Annapurna Himalayas, to spending his first night in a tent at 17,500ft on the highest mountain in Ecuador: Chimborazo, to summiting the 23,406ft Lenin Peak, and in the middle, numerous projects on mountains around the world. It was through these expeditions, funded by his film projects and photo assignments, that his desire to reveal beauty and adventure from remote places was consummated and came fully unto view.
