Machpuchare

Machapuchare. A sacred mountain translated "Fishtail" in the Annapurna region of Nepal. A vertical twin-peaked Himalayan giant holding its significance in both the people who gaze from below, and climbers who set their minds on places high. Machapucahre is one of the last great unclimbed mountains in the world, banned because of religious beliefs. Its vertical faces make it one of the most impressive spectacles the eye can behold, and because of its location on the south side of the Himalaya, often catches beautiful clouds framing its slopes in glory and majesty.

- Ronnie Forslund

"Machpuchare was a mountain that I have always wanted to gaze upon. But never did I think it would be so impressive to stand under and draw my eyes to. I felt even more reverence because in my mind I was dwelling upon its untouched slopes up high. Every moment the clouds revealed a frame for me to look upon Machapuchare, I was in awe of its beauty and elegance. This view in particular was glorious because just before tis moment, I could only stare at my feet on the endless trail, step by step weaving my way through endless hills and valleys. When I stopped to stare, everything went quiet as I watched the clouds seem to fly off the vertical faces as if the mountain was exhailing out and then back in."
